Small Groups at CrossPoint Church

In a message at the beginning of the year, Pastor Logan explained that we'd be starting small groups in the coming months here at CrossPoint Church. Small groups are intentional gatherings that happen on a regular basis for the purpose of community and spiritual growth. It's within small groups that we not only hear the Bible taught but interact with it through discussion and questions. Furthermore, small groups provide accountability and the necessary prayer support as we look to apply what we're learning from God's Word to our own lives.

At CrossPoint we are going to utilize trimester-based groups. That means we'll begin new groups three times a year. Each trimester you can pick which group you feel will be best for you, giving you the opportunity to get to know different people and explore new topics.

To start, we will have four groups, each meeting at different times and places throughout the week and working through different studies. The studies that have been chosen for our initial groups are shorter and most will finish up by May. (At that point, we'll take a couple of weeks off before beginning our second set of groups.) While we're still finalizing dates and meeting locations, here are the groups that will begin in just a few weeks.

  • Simple: The Christian Life Doesn't Have to Be Complicated. Pastor Logan will teach this six week study that covers the fundamentals of the Christian faith—assurance, baptism, church, devotions, and evangelism. If you're a new believer, a curious nonbeliever, or feel stagnant in your relationship with God, this group is for you! There is study guide for this series that costs $9.
  • The Blessing: Giving the Gift of Unconditional Love. In this six week DVD led study, you'll draw closer to your family, your friends, and God as you learn how to love and value those around you—and how to respond when others don't reciprocate. Men and women alike will enjoy this group! There is a study guide for this series that costs $7.
  • Financial Peace University. If you're struggling with your finances, whether it's trying to get out of debt, save for the future, or trusting God by giving, you won't want to miss this group! The teaching is done by video and followed by discussion. It's recommended that spouses participate in this nine week study together. One membership kit is required per family and costs $93.
  • Firm Foundation: Building a Household of Faith on the Unchanging Principles of the Word of God. This thirteen week study will be broken up over two trimesters. You'll learn biblical principles that you can use immediately in your own home as you discuss issues related to both marriage and parenting. There is a study guide for this series that costs $3.
Begin thinking about which group you'd like to be a part of. You'll hear Pastor Logan talk about signing up in the coming weeks. While you will have to pay for your own study guide, if you decide you want one (again, Financial Peace University requires one), CrossPoint will place a single order and cover the shipping cost for you.

Which group or groups interest you?
