"Continue in Prayer" (January 2016)

Yesterday (January 31) was our "Fifth Sunday Prayer and Communion Service," a joint service with both campuses coming together in Provo. For those that couldn't make it, or who simply want to "continue in prayer" (Colossians 4:2) this week, below are the prompts used during the service along with the corresponding verses that were read:
  1. Acknowledgment of need and request for help in prayer (Luke 11:1)
  2. Prayer of worship and reverence (Luke 11:2a)
  3. Prayer for God's will to be done in our lives, through our church, and through those ministries we support (Luke 11:2b) (NOTE: at this point in the service Tonia Tewell, the executive director of Holding Out HELP, gave a presentation)
  4. Prayer of petition (Luke 11:3)
  5. Prayer of confession and acknowledgment of dependence (Luke 11:4)
In addition to these prompts, we used social media and email to solicit prayer requests the week prior. Each request was shared, with the individual's name kept private, and someone volunteered to pray. Everyone enjoyed this unique component as we prayed for needs from across Utah and around the country.

Plan to join us for our next "Fifth Sunday Prayer and Communion Service" on Sunday, May 29, 2016 in Taylorsville!
