Sunday (April 30) was our Prayer & Communion Service, a joint service held each time a month has five Sundays. This time both campuses came together in Taylorsville. If you weren't able to make it, or if you simply want to "continue in prayer" (Colossians 4:2) this week, below are the prompts used during the service along with the corresponding verses that were read.
In that we were joined by Kelly Parrish, executive director of the Pregnancy Help Center of Park City who spoke to us during the service, we focused on the sanctity of life, all of life, by praying for several other organizations that emphasize the value of life.
- Fight the New Drug. Pornography not only fuels lust, creates hypocrisy, and causes marriage conflict, it objectifies life. However, all of this is symptomatic of a heart issue—sin (cf. Matthew 5:27, 28). Pray for those addicted to and exploited by, as well as those standing against it. Pray that you would be kept from such temptation.
- Operation Underground Railroad. Pornography is closely connected to human trafficking. This too objectifies and devalues life. Pray that those in bondage would receive freedom and that those engaged in this wickedness would come to know Christ as their Savior (cf. Isaiah 61:1-3).
- Hope4Utah. Suicide in any context, though at times glamorized by our culture, robs also devalues life. Our God not only provides physical freedom but spiritual and emotional freedom, breaking the chains of sin, depression, and oppression. Pray for those that have lost someone to suicide and for those struggling with such thoughts that they'd all experience the hope and peace that come only through faith in Christ.
Plan to join us for our next Prayer & Communion Service on Sunday, July 30, 2017 in Provo!
